Taghia is a tiny Moroccan village isolated in the High Atlas Mountains and exists without telephone lines, internet, or cars.
We arrived late at night. It was very dark. Only some light from a few light bulbs under a sky full of stars. After a good meal prepared by Nordin, it was time to go to bed on a thin madras on the floor. No heating or a door to close.
When I woke up I was freezing and it was Christmas morning. The day started with some bread and a cup of tea before we started our 3 hours walk in to the mountain.
The feeling you get waking into a different world so poor is hard to describe. Knowing that back home people are preparing breakfast in a warm house where everything is clean and tidy with some soft music and smiling faces and Christmas presents under the tree….
